Social Media Women May - Social Media Case Study: Social Innovation Sydney

Catriona Pollard - Thursday, May 05, 2011

Common questions that are often asked of Social Media are “How do I use Social Media to attract more customers / make money for my business / make change happen”.

Organisers of Social Innovation Sydney, Michelle Williams and Kate Carruthers, have done all that and more.  They have created a community, online and offline, via their website, social media and real life Barcamps and events.  Some would say they have started a movement, elements of which can be applied to every business!

Michelle and Kate will share with us how they used Social Media from the very start, to organise the meetings, events and record and report the activity afterwards.

Beyond their use of Social Media, we will also learn exactly was IS Social Innovation and what part it plays in the future of our lives and our businesses.

At this month's networking event, you will get real life tips and information that you can apply to your business n this information packed evening.

Nancy, Catriona & Judith Cantor have attended past Social Innovation Barcamps and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Michelle Williams is inspired by the emerging social innovation sector and the new models in both business and government to provide solutions to some of the major issues we face as a society, especially developing ways for the community to live sustainably.

With a passion for and experience in technology and the marketing of Michelle is active in the web start-up & social innovation community in Sydney. Michelle also sees opportunities in connecting social innovation with her passion for music. Michelle comments on these topics via Twitter.

Kate Carruthers is a marketer, technologist and educator. She “sometimes feels like being a revolutionary cat” (and is especially prone to this on Twitter). Kate has diverse experience in business and technology and is deeply interested in creating sustainable futures for all living things.
